Spring is a pretty time in the Wairarapa with lots of blossom trees and lots of spring flowers. Carterton is well known for its daffodils with a yearly daffodil festival in early September each year.
This year there were plenty of daffodils on display at Middle Run daffodil farm and you could purchase bunches from the farm with proceeds going to support Plunket and St John. Entry to the farm is free, but the daffodils were $4 per bunch this year.
Carterton is a 15 minute drive from our place and there is a fee bus out to the daffodil farm and a fair in town on the festival day.
At the end of September/beginning of October come the Tulips at Longbush Cottage. This is 25 minute drive from our place, but worth the drive. Entry to the Tulip festival was $10 this year (payable by cash or internet banking) and there are pots of Tulips available to purchase.
